Layers of Connection is an abstract painting in which layering plays a central role – not only in paint, but also in time and experience. The work was developed over a longer period, from 2024 to 2026, moving through different seasons. That evolution is visible in the composition, the colours and the intensity of the piece.
This is one of my most intensive works. A canvas where many things come together: material, movement, but also my personal process. The composition shifts from left to right, almost like thoughts moving through the mind. Not linear, but searching. The work reflects how insights sometimes need time to settle – layer by layer.
The paint has been applied thickly and in many layers, giving the surface an almost sculptural quality. The edges are visibly shaped by this process and carry a raw, irregular character. From the side, the texture almost resembles leather – tactile, layered and rich in detail.
Between the layers, 24k gold leaf appears and disappears throughout the painting. In some places it remains visible, while in others it is hidden beneath newer layers. That tension keeps the work alive and continuously draws the eye across the surface.
The colours bring together shades and tones that have appeared throughout my work over the years. In that sense, the painting also feels like a meeting point of earlier collections, directions and experiments.
Layers of Connection asks for attention, but also gives a great deal back. It is a work that continues to reveal something new over time.
The painting is framed in a black wooden floater frame with an exceptionally slim profile. The clean frame creates a deliberate contrast with the heavy textures and layered surface of the work, which continues around the sides.
