The collaboration between Marella Hesseling and BigBeads® Interior Jewelry brings abstract art and interior design together in a single object or composition. Unique Art Beads are created from original paintings and incorporated into the signature BigBeads® strands — suitable as room dividers or as standalone art objects within a space.
What makes this collaboration special is that art literally becomes part of the interior — tactile, layered, and crafted with attention to detail.
Room Dividers
The Art Beads can be integrated into multiple strands placed side by side, creating a composition reminiscent of a diptych, triptych, or even a larger artwork. This gives a room divider not only a functional purpose, but also an artistic presence within the interior.
Pendula
In addition, BigBeads® and Marella developed the pendula together: a refined hanging object featuring a single Art Bead as its centerpiece. Thanks to its slender composition, the pendula fits beautifully in a corner, niche, or smaller space where a subtle art object is desired.
Created from an Original Painting
For every Art Beads collection, I first create an original painting. From this artwork, I then handcraft a limited series of unique Art Beads. Only a small number of beads are made from each painting, and no two beads are exactly alike. The colors, texture, sheen, and layering of the original work remain visible in every object.
The Art Beads are combined with the existing BigBeads® elements of wood, steel, glass, and ceramic. This mix of materials creates a powerful yet refined statement within an interior.

Standard Collection
An Art Beads collection based on carefully selected color palettes from existing artworks, translated into unique beads.
Existing Style
A composition inspired by an existing painting or previous collection, applied within a new arrangement.
Fully Custom Made
An exclusive process in which I create a bespoke painting, fully tailored to the interior or project. This includes color studies and a careful alignment with materials, atmosphere, and surroundings. Optionally enhanced with luxurious materials such as 24k gold leaf.
Exclusive Art Beads are then crafted from this painting specifically for that project.
About the Collaboration
The collaboration between Marella Hesseling Art and BigBeads® Interior Jewelry grew from a mutual appreciation for each other’s work. I had been a longtime admirer of the BigBeads® objects, while they had been following my abstract paintings. From this shared inspiration came the idea to merge art and interior design into one collection.
