Diros II

Diros II grew out of a visit to the Diros caves on the Peloponnese in Greece. It was especially the limestone formations and the natural colours of the surroundings that stayed with me. I translated the structure of the rock and the subtle green hues of moss and algae into a layered abstract painting with a calm, warm presence. A work you can simply sit with for a while and take in fully — the same way I did in the caves. Warm tones of beige, sand, white, grey and deep brown form the basis of this work, with subtle pale green accents. Metallic paint is worked into the many layers, so the relief catches the light differently depending on where you stand. That relief was built up layer by layer with brush and palette knife. This way, you discover something new from every angle. Diros II is available individually and, together with Diros I, forms a diptych in which the two works strengthen one another.
