Scirocco

Scirocco is an abstract painting from the Grounded series, inspired by the warm desert wind that travels from the Sahara across North Africa and Southern Europe. While creating this piece, I imagined sand and dust drifting through the narrow streets of Marrakech, briefly softening the colours of the bustling souks before revealing them once again. Warm ochres, deep reds and earthy browns are combined with accents of green and layered purples, creating a rich and balanced palette. Layers of champagne gold, bronze and rose gold add a subtle metallic shimmer, allowing the painting to change with the light throughout the day. Measuring 200 × 100 cm, Scirocco combines movement with a sense of calm. From a distance it reads as one powerful composition, while up close the many textures and colour nuances gradually reveal themselves. The painting is stretched on a 4.5 cm deep aluminium frame.
